We believe information literacy is a fundamental skill for modern life

rare-cruise was founded on a simple observation: despite living in the most information-rich era in human history, most people lack the tools to effectively evaluate that information.

Team collaboration

How we got here

Our founder spent fifteen years working at the intersection of journalism, education, and technology. She watched the information landscape transform—and watched people struggle to keep up.

The problem wasn't access to information. It was the ability to process it critically. To distinguish signal from noise. To recognize manipulation when it appeared.

After training dozens of newsrooms in verification techniques, a pattern emerged: these skills weren't just valuable for journalists. They were essential for anyone who consumed, created, or shared information. Which, in the digital age, meant everyone.

Our approach

We don't teach media literacy as a theoretical concept. We teach it as a practical skill set.

Our training is built on three principles:

  • Context over rules. Understanding why verification techniques work matters more than memorizing steps.
  • Practice over theory. You learn by doing, not by listening to lectures.
  • Adaptability over rigidity. Manipulation tactics evolve. Your skills need to evolve with them.

Every programme we deliver is customized to the participant's information environment. A corporate communications team has different needs than a university student. A policy analyst faces different challenges than a secondary school teacher.

Who we work with

Our clients span sectors and seniority levels. We've trained:

  • Journalists and fact-checkers at national news organizations
  • Communications and public relations teams at multinational corporations
  • Research analysts in financial services and consultancies
  • Policy professionals in government and NGOs
  • Educators in secondary schools and universities
  • Students developing foundational research skills

What they share is a recognition that media literacy isn't optional anymore. It's foundational.

Our commitment

We're not neutral about misinformation. We believe it undermines democratic discourse, distorts markets, and damages communities.

But we also believe the solution isn't censorship or gatekeeping. It's education. Giving people the skills to make informed judgments themselves.

That's what drives us. And that's what we're here to help you develop.
